The Bozeman Stingers has recently partnered with Run To The Pub & will be raffling off a pair of race registrations at this weekend's home games vs. Jackson Hole Moose. Don't miss this opportunity to watch Montana's premier hockey, win free race registration, & register for a chance to win a trip to Dublin!
Have you heard about Run To The Pub yet? Here's the deal on Bozeman's best half marathon:
Runner’s World voted the Run to the Pub the number 2 “Best in the US” half marathon in the country! It isn't an accident that this event has achieved such an honorable status. Since 2007, Pub 317 has been putting on a one-of-a-kind St. Patricks Day 10K and Half Marathon, attracting thousands of runners and growing each year.
Run, walk, jog, or crawl, because as long as you cross the finish line, your name will be entered to win a trip to Dublin, Ireland to compete in the Dublin Marathon. What's in it for you?Are you saying the opportunity to run 6 or 13 miles and be entered to win a trip to Dublin isn't enough for you? We didn't think so either. That's why each runner will receive a technical race shirt, a unique finishing medal/bottle opener, a RttP pint glass, one free beer (for those of age), a custom RttP pair of fitsoks, an Irish Car Bomb cupcake from LUXE, a great after-party, and four, yes, FOUR chances to win an all-inclusive trip to Dublin, Ireland AND an entry into the Dublin Marathon. Not to mention you get to run in a tutu if you so choose (we know you've always wanted to). Oh, and besides the incredible group of runners you will be in the middle of, if you take the time to look up, you will notice that you are also in the middle of a most beautiful valley surrounded by mountains in every direction and a great, big sky.
The course is very unique for Bozeman, Montana. It’s 90% downhill for both races. The entire course will take place on roads, and the finish line will be on Main St. in front of Pub 317.
We wouldn't be here without the generous support of our sponsors. A huge shout out to the Run To The Pub crew, we sincerely appreciate your support.

After a successful inaugural season that saw the Sun Valley Suns take home the regular season title & the Jackson Hole skate away with a league championship, the BDHL has been busy in the off-season in preparation for the upcoming season.
The biggest news to come from the summer is the change in league members. Unfortunately, the Park City Pioneers have ceased operation and folded during the off-season.
To fill the void, the BDHL is proud to welcome a new franchise that is sure to become an immediate contender. The Missoula Desperados have joined the league & will kick off franchise history with a pair of games in Bozeman, MT vs. the Bozeman Stingers. This is sure to become a heated cross-state rivalry.
Along with the addition of the Missoula Desperados, the Stingers have rounded out their BDHL schedule with trips to both Jackson Hole & Sun Valley. The 2016 BDHL Playoff Championships will be held in Sun Valley, ID. In addition, home games vs. the Montana State University Bobcats are tentatively scheduled for October & January (dates & times TBD).

Last weekend, the Bozeman Stingers headed south to Jackson Hole, WY to face off in their inaugural BDHL games versus the Jackson Hole Moose hockey club. Despite a few last-minute roster changes, the Stingers showed up with a solid four lines & came ready to play.
The programs first ever BDHL game proved to be a doozy. Both teams came out flyin' in front of the rowdy crowd of well over 2000+ fans. By the end of a physical first period, the Stingers were up 1-0 after a goal by rookie Logan Henne (Fairbanks, AK). The second period tilted the Stingers' way and things kept rolling. At the close of the period the Stingers were up 4-1 behind two goals from Captain Justin Cook (Hamilton, NY) and one from hometown hero/local legend Russ Dissly (Bozeman, MT). The third period saw the Moose pick things up & claw back into the game to make it 4-3. As the final seconds ticked down, a flurry of action ensued in front of the Stingers net and the Moose came close to tying it up on multiple occasions. However, goalie Taylor D'Agostino (Bozeman, MT) stood tall and shut the door on the many close chances. As the horn blew, a 5 man scrum ensued to cap off the action-packed night & the Stingers emerged with their first win in their first ever BDHL game. On top of that, this marked the first victory for the Stingers in Jackson Hole in the last 5+ years. Goalie Taylor D'Agostino took home the yellow blazer as "Player of the Game" & also locked up the league-wide "Goalie of the Week" award with his performance.
After a night full of nothing but rest & relaxation, the Stingers came out for Saturday's game a little sluggish, like a wet sponge (bonus points if you know that movie reference). The boys played hard in what proved to be a another very physical game. Despite a solid performance in net by rookie Eric Powell (Ashburn, VA), the Moose went up early & never looked back. When the final horn blew, the Moose grabbed the win by a score of 8-4. Stinger goals came from Chase D'Agostino (Bozeman, MT), Kody Wickham (Airdrie, AB- CAN), Matt Douglas (Great Falls, MT), & Ben Henne (Fairbanks, AK). Chase D'Agostino won the yellow blazer as "Player of the Game" with his one goal & a few huge hits.
After the game, the team shrugged off the loss & celebrated a successful weekend by taking to downtown Jackson. There's an unconfirmed rumor going around that someone wearing the yellow blazer was seen break-dance fighting in the wee hours of the morning. Those D'Agostino's- so hot right now...
The greatest game on earth takes many forms...
Last week, Eagle Mount took over the Haynes Pavilion ice rink & brought something new to the Bozeman area- sled hockey. For an action-packed hour, the rink was full of smiles for the open event. Bozeman Stingers player Evans Innes was on hand taking part in the action & helping give the area exposure to such a beneficial sporting opportunity for those with disabilities.
Eagle Mount is a fantastic local charity that makes a huge difference in the lives of people with disabilities and children with cancer in the Bozeman community. For more information & how to lend your support, check out www.eaglemount.org .

The 2014-2015 season opened with two wins for the Bozeman Stingers Hockey Club. Friday night's action saw the team come out a little sluggish & the Montana State University Bobcats were able to capitalize early going up 3-1 by the end of the first period. However, the cats weren't up for long as the Stingers found their stride midway through the second period. After exchanging a flurry of goals, the Stingers took control of the game by the end of the second period. As the final horn blew, the Stingers emerged victorious with the 8-5 win. Newcomer Logan Henne lead the way with a handful of goals & assists earning the right to wear the coveted yellow blazer as "Player of the Game".
Saturday's rematch proved much of the same, as the Stingers got off to a slow start & saw themselves behind by a few goals early. The team got a short-lived boost when Chase D'Agostino delivered a crushing open-ice hit, but it was all for not as the infamous "too hard of a hit" 10 minute misconduct sent him to the box to "feel shame". This continued as soon as Chase served his time, as he went straight back in for another 10 minutes after another huge hit. When the dust settled, Chase racked up 24 minutes in penalties during his three shifts. Way to go, Chase.
Luckily, another D'Agostino brother was able to provide the spark the Stingers needed to get back in the game. The line of Ryan D'Agostino, Elkins, Picicci went to work killing penalties & pumping in goals. Rookie Alex Picicci locked up the yellow blazer with the hat trick, all fed by Ryan D'Agostino, and secured the 6-4 victory in what proved to be a penalty-heavy contest.
The Bozeman Stingers have this weekend off but travel to Jackson Hole, WY November 21 & 22 for their inaugural Black Diamond Hockey League games. The Jackson Hole Moose are already 2-0 in the BDHL after sweeping Park City, so it is sure to be a tough match-up.
Looking forward to the first hockey road trip of the season!
OPENING WEEKEND IS HERE!
This Friday & Saturday night, your Bozeman Stingers take on the University of Montana Bobcats in the first games of the 2014-2015 hockey season.
This will be the first opportunity of the season for the Stingers to take the ice as a team & a perfect warm-up for the upcoming road trips to Park City, Sun Valley, & Jackson Hole. This weekends games also mark the debut for a few new faces to the Stingers roster. Montana natives Alex Picicci (Billings, MT) & Levi Blom (Butte, MT) will pull on the Stingers sweater for the first time this Friday night. A handful of additional rookies from outside of MT will also be suiting up for the first time, including Kody Wickham (Airdrie, Alberta, CAN), Logan Henne (Fairbanks, AK), Jayce Paulseth (Duluth, MN) & goalie Erik Powell (Ashburn, VA).
As a special bonus treat, long-time Stinger Matt "Beanzy" Polzin is coming out of retirement to rejoin the Stingers for the season (or at least until AK heli-skiing calls him away again).
The Bobcats are always a big, tough team with some high-end skill, so don't miss what is sure to be some exciting hockey action! Friday & Saturday night games start at 7pm at the Haynes Pavilion. $5 admission, kids under 12 free.
Keep an eye out for a new sight next time you are at the rink. Our new Bozeman Stingers trailer just arrived & we can't wait to start using it.
The trailer will used on upcoming road trips for all team hockey & ski gear, in the annual Sweet Pea Parade, & various other PR/fundraising events around Bozeman. There's also some talk of turning it into our beer garden truck for home games & tournaments, but that is yet to be determined. Either way, we are pumped to show it off!
Huge thanks to Comfort Company for donating the trailer & Clean Slate Group for hooking up the graphics.
If you see it around town, give us a honk!
Who's going to take care of all your plowing needs this winter? Bighorn Snow Removal, of course!

If you see Bob around the rink or at Puck Lunch, be sure to give him a big high 5 for his continued sponsorship! We couldn't do it without great sponsors like him, so be sure to show your support this winter!
Thanks, Bob, see you at the rink!
